Day 6 on the Camino to Cacabelos

Albergue Gallega

Not just tiny streets & churches

Today was much better ->at least so far and in some ways.  Got lost but then found our way.  we woke up in our own room instead of  huge dorm and  we could pack and dress with lights on. We walked to the next big city Ponferrada and met up with pilgrims we knew from Kingston ontario, Munich, and New Zealand. I needed to find a bank machine and that went well.  Then we asked directions to the Camino and everyone directed us down a major road. Finally i asked for directions to a specific  town on the way snd he said we were way off course but to continue for 10 kms and we would meet up with the Camino.  After miles of auto and furniture stores and hard pavement we met up with the Camino.

we had already walked for over 10 more km to get to the Camino and then walked for a ton more to get to our destination, Cacabelos. I had written last night to the albergue but received no response and the rumour was the town was booked.   When we arrived STEVE said he couldnt walk any further.  But they had my reservation so by 200 pm I’ve had my shower, my beer and my laundry is dry. We have one more long day before we do the steep climb to O’Cebreiro.  We see fruit trees doing much better here.  There are small apples, lemons, and lots of vineyards. The cherries were almost ripe and already yummy
